What the index covers
Runes only, for now.
Comparison only works on identical items. A Ber Rune is the same item wherever you buy it, so two public prices can be placed side by side and the difference means something. Two Raven Frost listings may have different rolls; comparing them as if they were identical produces a precise-looking number that says very little.
Runes are fixed, fungible, and widely priced. Gems, keys, and tokens may follow when they can be tracked honestly. Rolled and rare items are unlikely to be included because price alone cannot describe their differences.
For each tracked rune, you get
- current comparable public shop prices sorted from low to high;
- the observed spread between the lowest and highest listing;
- saved price history for the selected ladder market;
- trend direction based on the history actually recorded by this index.
How we handle being a shop ourselves
- Our listing appears in price order, in the same format as every other listing. It is not pinned or highlighted.
- No shop pays to be included, ranked, or omitted. The comparison contains no affiliate links.
- When another shop is cheaper, the table shows it. Hiding the cases where we lose would make the comparison useless.
We are not recommending anyone
A shop appearing here means we can read a comparable public price. Nothing beyond that. We do not test another shop's delivery, support, stock, refunds, or conduct.
A lower listing can still mean no stock, a larger minimum order, slower delivery, checkout fees, currency conversion, or a stale price. Check how long the shop has existed, whether reviews describe specific orders across time, whether support answers a specific question, and whether a small first order arrives as described.
Apply the same checks to Sanctuary Relic.
How the data is collected
We read public listing pages on a fixed schedule, record the displayed price, and timestamp every successful check. Recorded prices are shelf prices before coupons, promotions, payment fees, and checkout currency conversion.
The current median and observed range use each seller's latest valid listing checked within 12 hours. Rows between 12 and 48 hours old remain visible as older quotes but do not set the current median. If every quote is older, the current price is unavailable.
At least four fresh quotes are needed to flag outliers. We use a modified median absolute deviation score above 3.5. If that deviation is zero, prices above three times or below one third of the median are flagged. Flagged listings remain in the table and median; the typical range excludes them.
Changes over 24 hours and seven days compare the current median with seller observations that were fresh at those earlier timestamps. Missing observations stay unavailable. The seller sample can change between periods. Charts show saved daily medians, with calendar gaps preserved, rather than filling missing dates.
Limits worth knowing
A listed price is not proof of stock. Price also cannot measure delivery time, support quality, refund handling, or whether the checkout total changes.
Ladder resets create a new economy, so current-season history is kept separate from earlier seasons. Earlier curves are context, not a promise that the next market will follow the same path.
Coverage is partial. Private trades, in-game exchanges, marketplaces, chat-only quotes, and inventory hidden behind checkout are outside this index.
Reading the season curve
D2R rune prices often begin under scarce supply and concentrated demand, then change as more runes enter circulation. High runes can hold value longer because their runeword demand persists. Use the recorded curve for the selected rune and market rather than assuming every ladder follows the same path.
The practical use is context: buying earlier may save play time, while waiting may change the cash price. The chart records what happened; it does not predict what happens next.
FAQ
How often does the price index update?
Every hour. Each rune page carries its own last-checked timestamp.
Why is a particular shop missing?
Either it does not publish a comparable public price for Diablo II: Resurrected ROTW Hardcore Ladder, its page cannot currently be read, or it has not been added yet.
Why is Sanctuary Relic not always the lowest price?
Sometimes it is not. The comparison shows the public listing order instead of hiding a cheaper listing.
Can I quote or link to this data?
Yes. You may screenshot it, quote it, or link to it. A credit is appreciated and not required.
Does this replace checking the shop directly?
No. Confirm the current price, quantity, stock, fees, and delivery terms on the shop's own page before paying.
Once you know the observed market range, compare it with our current listings and delivery terms in the Diablo II: Resurrected shop.
