This starter setup works well for either a Hammerdin or Fist of the Heavens Paladin during Ladder leveling. Both versions are strong in Chaos Sanctuary, while FoH performs best in areas filled with demons and undead, such as The Pit, the Mausoleum, and the Forgotten Tower.
Hammerdin offers broader farming coverage once you are comfortable positioning your hammers.
Choose this pack if you want the core casting gear, resistances, and mercenary mana support in one setup. Dual Spirit and Magefist provide 80–88% FCR, clearing the Paladin’s 75% casting breakpoint
Keep Holy Shield active for extra defense and blocking. Use Vigor with Charge to move between packs, then switch to the aura used by your chosen build before attacking.
As a Hammerdin, keep Concentration active while casting Blessed Hammer. Position yourself close to the edge of enemy packs so your hammers connect as they begin to spiral outward. Against bosses, move close enough for the hammer path to pass through the target and keep casting while your mercenary holds their attention.
As an FoH Paladin, use Conviction while casting Fist of the Heavens into groups of demons and undead. Holy Bolt is useful against single demon or undead targets and can also heal your mercenary. Keep your distance, focus dangerous ranged enemies first, and avoid spending too long in zones where Holy Bolts cannot damage most monsters.
Keep the Insight mercenary nearby for Meditation. If the mercenary becomes surrounded, move away to pull them out before continuing the fight.
