Paladin - Hammer / Smite - Early Ladder

Build Overview

Blessed Hammer clears packs while Last Wish and an elite Sacred Targe let this Paladin change to Smite for individual targets. The Early Ladder package supplies Enigma, a double-Ber Crown of Ages, Gore Rider and four resistance small charms; no Torch, Annihilus or CTA switch is included. Early Ladder names the gear tier: Last Wish and Enigma make this an expensive setup, not cheap starting equipment.

Pros

• 75% FCR, Raven Frost and the assembled double-Ber helmet coordinate casting and defense.

Cons

• Last Wish and Enigma make every tier expensive; these are not budget ladder-start kits.
• Life Tap and Fade require triggers. Attack speed and resistance coverage change when switching Fanaticism to Salvation.

How To Play

Cast Holy Shield, use Concentration with Blessed Hammer, and reposition so hammer spirals pass through the pack. Select Fanaticism when using Smite against a chosen target. Last Wish can trigger Life Tap on striking and level-11 Fade when struck; neither effect is permanently active merely because the weapon is equipped. Maintain Fade and check resistances before dangerous encounters. Salvation is available when resistance coverage takes priority over Fanaticism, including preparation for Mephisto's Conviction. Gore Rider supplies Open Wounds; do not rely on Prevent Monster Heal to stop Uber regeneration. Laying of Hands supplies 20% IAS and fire resistance, but its damage-to-demons bonus does not increase Smite. The cast set has 75% FCR. Crown of Ages and Spirit give 85% FHR, below the 86% breakpoint. Cold, lightning and poison resistance depend on active Fade to reach their caps at minimum rolls; verify the character screen before fighting. The Insight mercenary supports mana recovery. Teleport carefully and use potions rather than waiting for Life Tap to trigger while surrounded. This package follows a documented PvM hybrid; it does not promise the guide author's damage, life total, attack frames or Uber clear time.
