Confirmed Changes in Patch 3.3

Previous Ladder-Only Runewords Move to Non-Ladder

The following Runewords become available in Non-Ladder play once the patch is live: Mania, Hysteria, Metamorphosis, Ground, Temper, Hearth, Cure, and Bulwark.

This is routine for a season rollover. If you were waiting on any of these for a Non-Ladder character, they become accessible after the patch.

Unique Item Buffs Ladder Only, Reign of the Warlock

These changes apply only to new drops in Ladder. They do not affect D2 Classic or Lord of Destruction mode items, and they do not retroactively change existing copies.

Buffed low-level unique items in Patch 3.3
Item Change Practical Impact
Bloodletter Added 20% Faster Run/Walk More mobility for early Barbarian leveling. Still niche, but smoother as a stopgap before stronger weapons.
The Battlebranch Base ilvl reduced 34→30; required level 25→17 Drops and equips earlier. A small but useful improvement for Spearazon or Act II mercenary leveling.
Rogue's Bow Added +[1–3] Cold Arrow or Fire Arrow (Amazon Only) Gains skill bonuses for Amazon leveling. It may see occasional early Bowazon use, though the skill range is low.
Pluckeye Added +25% IAS A meaningful upgrade for a level-5 bow. Faster through early Normal, although it still falls off quickly.
Bane Ash Removed IAS and Enhanced Damage; added +20% FCR Moves away from physical weapon use and becomes a caster staff option for early leveling.
Gravenspine Added +10% FCR Adds caster appeal to a bone wand and slightly more flexibility for Necromancers or Warlocks in early Normal.
Blinkbat's Form FRW increased 10%→30%; added +1 Mana After Each Kill Significantly faster and slightly more sustainable. Better transition armor through Normal and into early Nightmare.
The Ward Added 1 socket A cheap diamond or rune can now add useful resistance or utility to an otherwise modest shield.
Manald Heal Added +10% FRW The mana recovery remains useful and the extra movement reduces some early reliance on boots.

Angelic Raiment Set Changes

Angelic Raiment changes
Piece / Bonus Change
Angelic Sickle Added +6 Damage with 3 set items equipped
Angelic Mantle Added +100% Damage to Undead with 3 set items equipped
Full Set Bonus Added +1 to All Skills

Angelic Raiment was already used heavily for the Angelic Wings + Angelic Halo Attack Rating combo. The +1 All Skills full-set bonus makes wearing all four pieces slightly more attractive for melee characters pushing through Nightmare, though the opportunity cost remains high against stronger standalone items.

General Bug Fixes

  • Leap landing animation no longer locks the character in place.
  • Some bosses could lose AI behavior fixed.
  • Council Members as Heralds now properly drop items.
  • Keys can again be bought in bulk from Hratli on controller.
  • Off-screen item names no longer briefly flash on screen.
  • Multiple Chronicle display issues were resolved.

Build Impact

Early Melee and Amazon Leveling

Bloodletter gains movement, The Battlebranch comes online much earlier, and Pluckeye gets 25% IAS. These are not endgame-defining buffs, but they make several low-level drops more usable during the first hours of a fresh Ladder.

Early Casters

Bane Ash gains 20% FCR and Gravenspine gains 10% FCR. Bane Ash in particular is repositioned as a caster-oriented staff rather than a physical weapon.

Mobility and Sustain

Blinkbat's Form jumps from 10% to 30% Faster Run/Walk and gains Mana After Each Kill, while Manald Heal adds 10% Faster Run/Walk. Both become smoother early-transition items.

Angelic Full Set

The +1 All Skills full-set bonus makes a complete Angelic setup more attractive during leveling, although the classic Wings + Halo Attack Rating combination remains the more established reason to use the set.

Warlock Bug Fixes

  • Bind Demon: its damage bonus was higher than intended and is now corrected. Expect lower output if your setup relied on the overtuned value.
  • Sigil: Death: no longer consumes mana when it fails to cast, and "+X to Fire Skills" gear now correctly applies to it.
  • Miasma Chain: no longer has missile collision with neutral and friendly units, improving group play and mercenary interaction.

Economy Impact

Buffed Leveling Uniques

Most buffs are quality-of-life improvements rather than major endgame value changes. Expect more practical use during Normal and early Nightmare than long-term demand.

Worldstone Supply

Worldstone Shards and Ancient Statues have reduced drop rates. Shards now come with an additional item, but their overall supply should be tighter.

Terror Zone and Endgame Farming Changes

Patch 3.3 tightens the Terror Zone reward structure in several ways:

  • Higher Rare+ drops at Herald Tier 3+. Builds that can consistently clear Tier 3 or higher Heralds benefit most from the improved item-quality reward structure.
  • Latent Sunder Charm minimum drop level increased from 69 to 75. Areas below level 75 can no longer produce them.
  • Latent Sunder Charm drop rate is reduced when using Magic Find. MF stacking no longer boosts Sunder generation the same way.
  • Latent Sunder Charms from Magic Find now only drop in Hell. Nightmare MF routes are no longer viable for this purpose.
  • Herald Sunder drop rate is unaffected. Herald farming remains the primary route.
  • An additional item drops alongside a Worldstone Shard. Shard drops no longer occupy the reward slot alone.
  • Worldstone Shard drop rate is reduced. Fewer Shards overall, offset partially by the additional item.
  • Ancient Statue drop rate is reduced. Supply should tighten over the season.

If your farming plan revolved around moderate-level Nightmare Sunder Charm runs, that route is closed. Rebalance toward Hell Terror Zones or Herald farming specifically.

What Remains Unchanged

The Four Ladder Modes Remain

Season 15 Ladder modes
Mode Scope
Pre-Expansion Ladder Acts I–IV only
Pre-Expansion Hardcore Ladder Acts I–IV, one life
Ladder Five acts (Lord of Destruction)
Hardcore Ladder Five acts, one life

Herald Sunder Drops

The Herald Sunder Charm drop rate is not reduced by the new Magic Find restriction. The farming changes specifically make the MF route more restrictive, leaving Herald farming as the primary path.

Season Rollover Still Uses Withdraw Only

When Season 14 ends on August 17, all Ladder characters transfer to Non-Ladder. Shared Stash items move into a Withdraw Only tab the "Past" box. Items still sitting in the Withdraw Only tab from Season 13 will be deleted at that point.

What Is Still Uncertain

What to Do Before Season 15

  1. Empty your Season 13 Withdraw Only stash. Anything left there is deleted when Season 14 ends on August 17.
  2. Read the Warlock adjustments. If you plan to start Warlock, the Bind Demon correction could change early skill point allocation. Wait for live patch data before finalizing the build.
  3. Adjust your farming expectations. Sunder Charm farming through Magic Find stacking in Nightmare is gone. Plan for Hell-only Terror Zone farming and Herald Tier 3+ clears.
  4. Review the buffed low-level uniques. Most changes are minor, but Manald Heal and Blinkbat's Form are already practical fresh-Ladder pickups and become slightly better in the first few hours.
  5. Patch on August 18 and plan your Ladder start for August 21. The three-day gap is deliberate use it to update, clean up old stash tabs, and prepare your starting route.
