PoE 3.29 League Starter Builds

The list covers poison, mines, ignite, cold casters, Mana stacking, Mercenary support, brands, minions and melee. Use the creator links beneath each build for exact passive trees, gem setups and Path of Building files.

League-Start Currency and Gearing

Several of these builds begin on inexpensive rare gear, while others rely on one or two defining Unique items before their final setup comes online. Early spending should usually fix Life, elemental resistances, links, attributes and the first item that makes the build function.

01

Poisonous Concoction of Bouncing Pathfinder

PConc of Bouncing keeps its league-after-league crown as one of the most reliable and downright comfortable starters in the game — beginner-friendly yet racer-approved (Jungroan and Tytykiller have run it in competitive starts). Nothing in 3.29 dents its power, and the new socket-color rework strips away the last bit of gearing friction while handing you free quality on top. If you want to blast the campaign, melt bosses on a shoestring budget, and never stress about finding a weapon, this is your build.

How It Works

  • Fully unarmed poison attack — you skip the game's single most expensive slot and pour that currency straight into defenses and jewels.
  • Each throw drains your life flask and detonates in overlapping bursts, shotgunning packs and bosses with stacked poison.
  • Your life flask is your weapon: upgrade its quality and rolls and your damage scales right with it.
  • Pathfinder (Master Toxicist, Nature's Reprisal, Master Surgeon) gives permanent flask uptime, poison scaling, and near-constant ailment immunity.

Power & Survivability

  • Flask-based scaling ramps fast with almost no gear investment — just life, resists, and evasion.
  • Bouncing projectiles deliver one of the smoothest single-target-to-clear ratios in the game; one setup does everything.
  • Balanced, layered defenses at endgame
  • A Fury Valve amulet and Betrayal's Sting ring turn a cheap starter into a genuine map-blaster.

Leveling Roadmap

  1. Start as a Ranger on Caustic Arrow through Act 1, grabbing Shield Charge early for mobility.
  2. Swap to Poisonous Concoction at level 12, add Herald of Agony in Act 2 and Despair + Malevolence by Act 3.
  3. Lock in a Greater Volley + Unbound Ailments link by Act 4 — no more gem swaps the rest of the campaign.
  4. Move to the Bouncing transfigured gem and slot Fury Valve to bring it all online.

02

Icicle Mines Deadeye

Icicle Mines Deadeye is a battle-tested league starter with 10+ league starts under its belt — dirt cheap, requires no specific items, and completes the entire Atlas plus farms T16 maps on day one with only a few chaos invested. It freeze-locks the whole screen, so mapping stays safe even while you're squishy, and there's no skill or flask timing to babysit. If you want a low-stress "brain-off" farmer that funds your next character, this is it.

How It Works

  • Cold mines you drop and detonate — projectiles chain and pierce across the entire screen, freezing and shattering packs on contact.
  • One single skill setup, no timing to juggle — genuinely low-APM and beginner-friendly.
  • Deadeye (Gathering Winds → Ricochet → Endless Munitions → Far Shot) turns mines into screen-wide clear through Tailwind, chain, and extra projectiles.
  • Great freeze uptime is a defense in itself — frozen packs don't hit back.

Power & Survivability

  • Hits ~4500 life and 100% spell suppression early, with nothing but rares rolled for life and resists.
  • Zero unique dependency — you can gear the whole campaign off drops and vendor rares.
  • Squishy on paper, but near-permanent freeze keeps mapping safe; swap in Wind Ward if you want more cushion.
  • Scales hard with investment — players run it for "No Hit" Sanctums, and single-target can be multiplied many times over once you commit to it.

Leveling Roadmap

  1. Level with Poisonous Concoction (or any early skill) until Icicle Mine is online.
  2. Grab Icicle Mine around level 12 via trade or a friend (Ranger can't buy it in Act 1), or from the Act 3 Library quest — then level it through the early acts so it's ready when you swap.
  3. Early 4-link: Icicle Mine + Trap and Mine Damage + Minefield + Charged Mines (run Pierce until you have chain).
  4. First buys: a cheap Bitterdream (a 3-link that carries you to T16!), Mutewind Whispersteps, then Heatshiver as currency stacks up.

03

Ice Crash Ignite Chieftain

Ice Crash Ignite Chieftain is a fire-slam powerhouse: one swing blankets the screen in flames, and the ignite finishes the job, spreading from pack to pack until nothing's left standing. It levels as a simple, reliable slammer and matures into one of the tankiest, hardest-hitting igniters in the game — the kind of build that face-tanks damage while its fire quietly deletes bosses. If you want melee that melts the whole screen and shrugs off hits, this is the pick.

How It Works

  • Every Ice Crash lands a heavy slam, and once the Foulborn Dyadian Dawn belt lets all your damage ignite, that hit blooms into a huge patch of fire.
  • The burn spreads on its own from target to target, so one swing torches an entire pack — and against a boss, that same big hit becomes one long, punishing burn.
  • Killing an ignited enemy sets off Hinekora, Death's Fury, chaining corpse explosions that wipe screens for you.
  • Stacked fire scalers — Foulborn Razor of the Seven Suns, the Covenant chest, and Tukohama's Fist of War — keep multiplying the ignite until the numbers get ridiculous.

Power & Survivability

  • Chieftain turns fire resistance into all-around defense: pile it high and your caps for every element climb with it, so sitting at max resistance everywhere takes almost no effort.
  • Add a deep life pool, steady recovery, endurance charges, and a share of incoming hits rerouted through fire, and the character simply eats damage that flattens other starters.
  • Because the toughness is baked into the ascendancy, gearing stays relaxed — you chase fire res, life, and a few key uniques instead of sweating every slot.
  • On offense there's no ceiling in sight: whole-screen clear and vicious single-target burn both arrive long before you've spent real currency.

Leveling Roadmap

  1. Open on Ground Slam, then switch to Sunder to breeze through the campaign as a solid, no-fuss slammer.
  2. Lock in the Chieftain ascendancy (Marauder) for Tasalio and Valako's resistance stacking plus Hinekora's explosive kills.
  3. Early on, pick up Rebuke of the Vaal and move onto Leap Slam; mid-game upgrade to Leap Slam of Groundbreaking alongside Foulborn Razor of the Seven Suns, Covenant, Xoph's Heart, and Death Rush.
  4. Grab the Foulborn Dyadian Dawn belt as soon as you can afford it — it already pulls its weight from the campaign and only gets scarier as your gear catches up, fully unleashing the Ice Crash ignite in the endgame.
  5. An approachable slammer that snowballs into a screen-melting, boss-melting fire juggernaut — one of the sturdiest, most satisfying all-rounders in 3.29, and cheaper than ever to put together thanks to the socket rework.

04

Creeping Frost & Winter Orb (Arctic Salvo) Elementalist

Arctic Salvo is a dual-skill cold Elementalist that freezes the entire screen while it kills. Winter Orb turns mapping into a blur of long-lasting projectiles and explosions, while Creeping Frost lays down heavy damage for bosses — and because everything on screen is permanently chilled, frozen, and shocked, enemies barely get to fight back. It's smooth from level 1 all the way to endgame, with the kind of recovery that makes it one of the safest and most satisfying casters to open 3.29 on.

How It Works

  • Two cold skills cover every situation: Winter Orb rains projectiles for fast, explosive clear, while Creeping Frost handles single-target and dense packs alike.
  • Gluttony Support fans Creeping Frost out in a full 360°, so one cast blankets everything around you.
  • Elementalist scales it all — enormous area, automatic shock and cold exposure — and a squad of golems piles on free damage and buffs.
  • Constant chill, freeze, shock, and hinder lock enemies down before they can land a hit.

Power & Survivability

  • Incoming damage is spread across life, energy shield, and mana, then refilled instantly by leech on your many hits per second — recovery is top-tier.
  • High block and capped resistances on top of a big combined life-and-ES pool make it genuinely tanky for a spellcaster.
  • Permanent freeze and chill are a defensive layer in themselves: frozen packs simply don't act.
  • Golems chip in defensively too — the Safeguarding stone golem soaks a large share of melee damage and can even taunt threats off you.

Leveling Roadmap

  1. Levels 1-11: open with Freezing Pulse and Frost Bomb.
  2. Level 12: swap in Creeping Frost — your core skill for the rest of the campaign.
  3. Levels 16-31: add Cold Snap, then replace it with Winter Orb at 31 (grab Ice Bite, More Duration, and Infused Channelling from the Act 3 Library).
  4. Pick up a Mystic Refractor wand as your key weapon early.
  5. Bandits: Alira; Pantheon: Brine King, then Lunaris once you're freeze-immune.
  6. A well-rounded cold caster that's fast, freezes everything, and heals through almost anything — an easy, forgiving league start that grows cleanly into a serious mapper and boss-killer.

05

Spark Archmage Hierophant

Spark Archmage Hierophant remains one of the strongest all-around league starters in 3.29, offering exceptional clear speed, impressive boss damage, and some of the smoothest progression of any spellcaster.

  • Spark's bouncing projectiles tear through maps while Archmage transforms your growing mana pool into massive damage without relying on expensive weapons.
  • The build starts comfortably on a modest budget, grows stronger with every upgrade, and naturally evolves into a tanky endgame powerhouse capable of handling virtually every piece of content.

  • How It Works

    • Spark of the Nova floods the screen with bouncing lightning projectiles that repeatedly strike enemies, giving the build excellent clear speed and surprisingly strong boss damage in enclosed arenas.
    • Archmage Support transforms your ever-growing mana pool into massive spell damage, so every mana upgrade simultaneously improves your offense and defenses.
    • Hierophant (Divine Guidance → Sanctuary of Thought → Conviction of Power → Arcane Blessing) provides huge mana scaling, permanent Arcane Surge, endurance and power charge generation, and excellent sustain throughout progression.
    • The endgame version revolves around Widowhail paired with Rearguard, creating an unusually tanky bow setup that offers exceptional block chance while massively amplifying the quiver's powerful modifiers.

    Power & Survivability

    • Mana stacking provides incredible value throughout the league, increasing both damage and effective health with every meaningful upgrade.
    • Atziri's Foible and Kitava's Thirst is one of the biggest early upgrades, solving mana sustain while significantly boosting your overall scaling for very little investment.
    • Multiple defensive layers including Mind over Matter, Energy Shield, Attacks and Spells block, and excellent recovery to absorb large hits with surprising consistency.
    • The build scales effortlessly into endgame, with automated curses through Kitava's Thirst and Anathema adding both damage and utility without making the gameplay more complex.

    Leveling Roadmap

    1. Begin the campaign with Fireball, Holy Flame Totem, and Flame Wall, then transition into Firestorm as your primary leveling skill.
    2. Add Archmage Support as soon as your mana pool comfortably supports it — from this point onward, mana becomes the core of your character's scaling.
    3. Enter maps using Ball Lightning of Orbiting, which offers excellent damage while your Spark setup comes together.
    4. Switch to Spark of the Nova once your core gear is in place, unlocking the fast-paced playstyle and endgame scaling the build is known for.
    5. Spark Archmage Hierophant is one of those rare league starters that never feels temporary. It levels smoothly, scales naturally with inexpensive upgrades, and grows into a character capable of comfortably farming everything from early Atlas progression to pinnacle bosses. If you're looking for a build that can carry you through the entire league without needing to reroll, Spark remains one of the strongest and safest choices available.

    07

    Winter Orb Occultist

Ronarray's Winter Orb Occultist is one of the biggest winners of 3.29 — GGG handed Winter Orb a major buff (more projectiles, better crit, more flat cold damage), and it pairs perfectly with the new Pact of Beidat gem for even more projectiles and a large "more" damage multiplier.

  • Winter Orb is one of the only skills in the game with auto-target, so it plays like a completely chill autobomber: hold a button, drift through the map, and everything freezes and dies.
  • Occultist wraps that around a fat energy-shield-and-block tank, so it's relaxing and sturdy at the same time.

  • How It Works

    • Winter Orb auto-targets — you channel it up, then simply move, and the orbs rain cold projectiles on everything nearby with zero aiming.
    • The 3.29 buff plus the new Pact of Beidat gem stack extra projectiles and a big damage multiplier on top, so clear and single-target both scale hard.
    • Occultist turns power-charge generation into both damage and huge energy-shield regeneration, so offense and defense grow together.
    • Freeze, chill, and Bonechill lock enemies down while Herald of Ice shatter explosions chain through packs.

    Power & Survivability

    • Built as an energy-shield tank on Chaos Inoculation — your life becomes 1 and you're outright immune to all chaos damage.
    • Caps block at 75/75 against attacks and spells with recovery-on-block, so many hits are denied outright and you heal off the rest.
    • A deep energy-shield pool with Occultist regeneration and leech keeps you topped up through anything.
    • Mind Over Matter adds one more layer, draining damage into your mana before it ever reaches your shield.

    Leveling Roadmap

    1. Winter Orb becomes your engine as soon as it's available and carries you to the end; the guide includes full act-by-act checkpoints (Brutus, Vaal Oversoul, Ascendancy + Dominus, Malachai, Kitava).
    2. Bandits: help Alira; gear for energy shield and resistances, grabbing a little life early before the Chaos Inoculation swap.
    3. Swap to Chaos Inoculation once you reach roughly 5k+ energy shield with solid recovery and leech.
    4. Hold off on the chase uniques until you land Ralakesh's Impatience with Power Charges — until then a rare-geared version works fine, since the skill is strong enough on rares alone.
    5. One of the strongest and most relaxing starters in 3.29 — a true brain-off autobomber that also happens to be tanky. The one real caveat: the min-maxed endgame leans on a pile of uniques (Tulfall, Malachai's Loop, Romira's Banquet, Badge of the Brotherhood, an Elegant Hubris timeless jewel), so budget for those later — a rare-based version carries you there comfortably in the meantime.

    08

    Penance Brand Ignite Elementalist

Penance Brand Ignite Elementalist is a brand-based autobomber that picked up a handful of small 3.29 buffs which quietly add up to a real bump.

  • The magic is Elementalist's Shaper of Flames, which lets you ignite with any damage type — so Penance Brand's big pile of physical and lightning damage all rolls into one massive fire ignite that proliferates across the screen.
  • The payoff is crazy clear and genuinely comfy single target, wrapped in a fast, tanky, low-effort playstyle.

  • How It Works

    • You drop Penance Brand and it ramps to max stages, then detonates for one huge hit — and thanks to Shaper of Flames, that hit ignites for the full value of its physical, lightning, and fire damage.
    • The ignite proliferates from enemy to enemy, and Heralds, Obliteration, and Ignite Proliferation chain the explosions across the whole screen, so mapping is mostly hands-off.
    • With Lost Unity's Herald of the Hive pulse, clear becomes nearly zero-button — you Shield Charge around and packs simply detonate, saving Penance Brand for stray rares and bosses.
    • For single target you drop the brand with Flammability and follow up with Flame Surge to leave a burning-ground finisher.

    Power & Survivability

    • Fast and tanky — you Shield Charge everywhere, dodging mechanics while your ignite keeps ticking away on its own.
    • Scales into a very sturdy endgame through Aegis Aurora (energy-shield recovery on block), Melding of the Flesh, and Grace of the Goddess.
    • The brand playstyle is inherently safe: you toss brands and reposition instead of standing still to attack.
    • Heralds and golems layer on both quality-of-life and extra damage buffs.

    Leveling Roadmap

    1. Chase gem levels for Penance Brand — Honourhome (+2 gems) is a great early helmet, and you socket Penance Brand inside it.
    2. Grab flat spell damage where you can early (Berek's Grip), and Nycta's Lantern's Battlemage is a strong weapon spike alongside Spellblade Support.
    3. If you can get one, Lost Unity makes leveling a breeze through its Herald of the Hive pulse (it may be scarce very early in a fresh league).
    4. Mind your attribute requirements — stack attributes on gear and don't feel you must max every gem; a Supreme Ostentation timeless jewel erases the concern later.
    5. A fast, tanky, low-stress autobomber with crazy clear and comfortable single target — one of those builds that just feels good to pilot. The 3.29 changes are small buffs rather than a rework, so it plays exactly as before, only stronger

    09

    Soulwrest Phantasm Necromancer

Definitiv's Soulwrest Phantasm Necromancer is his personal league starter — an unconventional minion build that's dirt cheap, genuinely tanky, and hits surprisingly hard.

  • It's a long-time sleeper (last truly meta back in Expedition league) reborn as a proper all-rounder that zooms through maps and kills pinnacle bosses.
  • The whole thing is built around one cheap staff and a swarm of poison-spitting phantasms you conjure by spinning through packs with Cyclone.

  • How It Works

    • The Soulwrest staff summons a Phantasm for every corpse consumed — and the trick is that support gems only need to be socketed in it, not linked, so a full "6-link" costs almost nothing.
    • You spin Cyclone (with Cast while Channelling) to auto-generate and consume corpses, conjuring a swarm of up to 44 phantasms that fire piercing spells.
    • Necromancer's Unnatural Strength converts the phantasms' damage fully to chaos and applies free Wither, turning Summon Phantasm Support into a poison machine — that's where the surprising damage comes from.
    • Clear and single target are one weapon-swap apart (default X key): spin to build the swarm for mapping, or pre-stack it and add Despair plus Predator for bosses — no gem swapping needed.

    Power & Survivability

    • Genuinely tanky for a summoner — a hybrid ~4k life / ~2k energy-shield pool behind roughly 20k armour, Divine Shield, and Molten Shell.
    • Block and spell block are capped (through Bone Offering and Mistress of Sacrifice), and you recover life and energy shield on every block.
    • Bone Barrier grants less physical damage taken plus minion-damage leech — and with 20-44 phantasms hitting constantly, that leech keeps you topped up.
    • Five endurance charges, 80% reduced critical damage taken, and channel-based damage reduction round out one of the sturdiest starter defensive packages around.

    Leveling Roadmap

    1. Level as a fire caster — Rolling Magma into Armageddon Brand and Firestorm — with Holy Flame Totem, Flame Wall, and Shield Charge for mobility.
    2. Move to Summon Raging Spirit in white maps, then transition gradually into the poison Summon Phantasm setup.
    3. Grab a Soulwrest as your core (a common, cheap unique — target-farm it with Alone in the Darkness divination cards), then pick up Darkness Enthroned and Ghastly Eye jewels from Abyss.
    4. Bandits: Alira; Pantheon: Brine King + Abberath. Add The Dark Monarch helmet later to push your phantasm count up to 44.
    5. A cheap, tanky, low-stress minion starter that punches well above its budget — Definitiv reports a full setup by day two, then farming pinnacle content and blasting maps for serious currency.

    10

    Dual Strike of Ambidexterity Slayer

Dual Strike of Ambidexterity Slayer is a dual-wield melee build with a clever gimmick: the skill takes its damage from your main-hand weapon (with a big 70% more multiplier) and its attack speed entirely from your off-hand, so you pair one slow, hard-hitting weapon with one fast one and get the best of both. Because the weapons that fit tend to come with drawbacks — and are therefore cheap — it's a genuinely accessible starter with strong single target and clear.

  • Wrapped in Slayer's endless leech, it becomes one of the safest melee characters you can start on.

  • How It Works

    • Dual Strike of Ambidexterity requires two different weapon types: your main-hand supplies the damage plus a 70% more multiplier, while all your attack speed is pulled from the off-hand.
    • That lets you slot a slow, high-physical main-hand (a cheap Mark of the Doubting Knight early, a double-damage Paradoxica later) alongside a fast off-hand claw such as Brightbeak.
    • Since the best-fit weapons carry built-in downsides, they stay cheap — so your damage weapon is essentially sorted for next to nothing at league start.
    • It's a straightforward point-and-hit melee skill: heavy single target for bosses, and with Melee Splash added, clean pack clear.

    Power & Survivability

    • Slayer's overleech (Brutal Fervour and Endless Hunger) gives constant, automatic life recovery that makes you very hard to kill while moving.
    • Bane of Legends and Headsman pile on damage against bosses and rares plus a fast cull, so tough targets fall off a cliff at low life.
    • Extra endurance charges and heavy physical-damage reduction stack on top, and Slayer's leech keeps you immune to stun and bleed while it's active.
    • It's a life-based build that stays safe through leech and mitigation rather than fragile tricks — one of the highest safety profiles of any melee starter.

    Leveling Roadmap

    1. Level with Frost Blades — a cheap, reliable melee skill that scales off a single fast one-hander and carries you comfortably through the whole campaign.
    2. Along the way, collect your endgame pair: a slow, high-physical main-hand and a fast off-hand claw (a corrupted Brightbeak with Fortify-on-hit is a great budget off-hand).
    3. Swap to Dual Strike of Ambidexterity once you've unlocked the transfigured gem and have a weapon pair — and push it to 20% quality as soon as possible.
    4. Slayer order: Brutal Fervour and Endless Hunger first for overleech, then Bane of Legends and Headsman for damage and cull.
    5. A cheap, extremely safe melee starter — excellent for delve, heist, and general mapping, with solid single target that scales cleanly as your weapon pair improves. It came through the 3.29 patch untouched by nerfs, and the socket rework's free quality only helps it

    Void Shockwave Cyclone Slayer

FGKorbyn21's Void Shockwave Cyclone Slayer is the definitive "spin-to-win" starter — hold Cyclone, walk through packs, and three layers of automated damage do the rest. It's beginner-friendly, immune to reflect, and tanky enough to faceroll the campaign, then rolls comfortably into maps on a handful of cheap uniques. If you want a true one-button melee build that's forgiving to level and pleasant to play, this is it.

    How It Works

    • You spin with Cyclone of Tumult — a bigger, harder-hitting Cyclone — and grind down everything in a 360° radius around you.
    • Void Shockwave Support auto-procs mini-earthquakes on every hit, a free second layer of damage and clear.
    • General's Cry and Autoexertion summon Mirage Warriors that slam automatically for you — Ground Slam of Earthshaking for clear, Double Strike for single target — with Desecrate feeding them corpses on bosses.
    • It's genuinely one-button: hold spin, keep moving with Frostblink, and let the layers stack on their own.

    Power & Survivability

    • Very forgiving to level: life and armour stacking plus Slayer's Brutal Fervour overleech keep you healthy through the whole campaign as long as you're spinning.
    • Your staff's base block plus block passives give strong attack block from the start, and Versatile Combatant turns the overcap into spell block — so you're denying a big share of hits on both.
    • Rounded out with Fortification, endurance charges, physical damage reduction, and ailment immunity from Purity of Elements.
    • Immune to physical and elemental reflect thanks to Brutality, so you can ignore those map mods entirely.

    Leveling Roadmap

    1. Level with Sunder from around Act 2 for a smooth campaign, swap to Cyclone at about level 33 after your first Lab, and take Resolute Technique near 48 so you never miss. Use a staff (Ezomyte, Maelstrom, or Judgement base) for its 25% base block, and grab Slayer's Brutal Fervour early for overleech.
    2. Cheap uniques that carry the campaign: Tabula Rasa for a free 6-link, Goldrim for easy resistances, Praxis to keep mana-hungry Cyclone running, and Meginord's Girdle for a chunk of strength and physical damage.
    3. The Stampede boots are the key pickup — the movement speed cancels out Cyclone of Tumult's slow, so you never feel sluggish.
    4. Reckless Defence jewels are a cheap early way to push your block higher while you gear. Bandits: Kill All; Pantheon: Arakaali and Shakari.

One of the most beginner-friendly, forgiving starters there is — a tanky, reflect-proof, one-button spinner with huge 360° clear that walks through the campaign and settles comfortably into maps on a cheap unique setup. Its only real quirk is that Cyclone of Tumult slows your movement — but The Stampede boots fix exactly that, so it doesn't stay sluggish for long, and from there it's happy to keep scaling as far as you care to invest.

    Toxic Rain Pathfinder

Path of Evening's Toxic Rain Pathfinder is a tried-and-true chaos-poison bow starter — you rain clouds of toxic pods over packs and watch them dissolve from stacking poison. It's fast, cheap, and unusually sturdy for a bow build thanks to Pathfinder's flasks and enormous life regen. A perennial "just works" league starter that levels smoothly from the Twilight Strand and asks for almost nothing to get rolling.

    How It Works

    • Toxic Rain fires arrows that drop pods; the pods burst for chaos damage and layer a stacking poison, so enemies keep dying after you've already moved on.
    • You stack a bit of area (around 37-43% increased AoE) so all five pods overlap on a target — the single biggest early damage boost, and it's mostly free from the tree plus a little gear.
    • Because it scales on gem levels, damage-over-time multiplier, and duration rather than weapon damage, you don't need an expensive bow — cheap rares carry you the whole way.
    • Pathfinder keeps your flasks up permanently for damage, immunities, and huge sustain, while a Manaforged Arrows setup automates Caustic Arrow and wither for extra chaos.

    Power & Survivability

    • Genuinely durable for a bow character — 3000+ life regen, Petrified Blood with no real downside, and permanent flask immunities make it hard to kill.
    • Spell suppression is capped through the tree and the Magebane keystone, and ailment avoidance is stacked, so you shrug off freeze and shock without much investment.
    • Evasion plus a Lightning Coil (physical damage taken as lightning) rounds out the defenses, with an automated Immortal Call for spike hits.
    • The trade-off is that you'll tap your life flask a lot — recovery leans on it — so it's less set-and-forget than it first looks.

    Leveling Roadmap

    1. Grab Caustic Arrow the moment you reach Lioneye's Watch, then swap in Toxic Rain at the Cavern of Wrath in Act 1 — that's your skill for the entire game.
    2. Gear is simple: chase life, resistances, and a bit of area; the guide includes full act-by-act trees from Act 1 through to maps.
    3. Cheap progression uniques to slot along the way: Dendrobate as an early damage-over-time chest, Coralito's Signature for guaranteed poison, then a Lightning Coil and The Tides of Time belt later for defense and utility.
    4. Round it out with leveling staples — Tabula Rasa for a free 6-link, Goldrim for resistances, and a Wanderlust plus Quill Rain to fly through the acts. Pantheon: Lunaris and Ryslatha (great on a life-flask-heavy build).

One of the most dependable, forgiving starters there is — fast, cheap, and tanky enough to stroll through the campaign, then a genuine one-button mapper once it's rolling.
